There are two Nitty Gritty record cleaning washes available and both are biodegradeable. The all vinyl cleaner is the stronger cleaner, capable of overpowering the most stubborn residue or grease. It contains a degreaser, a static neutralizer, a mild detergent, and surfactant. The 78's cleaner has a remarkably low 6 parts solid per million dissolved solids, making it residue free and contains no alcohol. The Nitty Gritty VAC-SWEEP brush has thousands of microscopic fibers that gently scrub the record's grooves. Possibly the most unique part of the Nitty Gritty system is the "hemicylindrical lip interface". Through these fiber covered lips, the vacuum motor suctions a dry path across the entire grooved surface of the record, utilizing the "venturi effect."

Craig who is a satisfied Nitty Gritty owner and member of our staff reports "I haven't directly compared the Nitty Gritty to the more expensive Clearaudio and VPI cleaning machines, but I did perform an experiment with my audiophile system to see how well the Nitty Gritty cleans. First I listened to a dusty and dirty 12" LP 45 Single, then listened again after cleaning with the Nitty Gritty, and listened again after a 2nd and 3rd cleaning with the Nitty Gritty.
